Gut Health Programme
Rebuilding your Microbiome in Zurich
It digests, protects, and communicates with your immune system and your nervous system. When it falls out of balance, you usually notice it in your abdomen first: bloating, pressure, irregular bowel movements. Sometimes it presents as fatigue, skin problems, or susceptibility to infection. With an individually tailored gut restoration programme, we examine together what is burdening your digestive system and what it needs. No standard protocol, no radical promises. Natural, personal, and evidence-informed support. Your gut deserves to find peace again.
Why the Gut Matters So Much
The gut absorbs nutrients, forms a barrier against pathogens, and remains in constant exchange with the immune system, nervous system, and metabolism. Approximately 70 % of your immune cells reside in the intestinal mucosa. This is why I never assess recurring symptoms in isolation, but always in the context of nutrition, stress, sleep, and your personal medical history.

Understanding the Microbiome
Trillions of microorganisms inhabit your digestive tract. They assist digestion, produce vitamins, and protect the intestinal mucosa. Their composition is as individual as a fingerprint and shifts with nutrition, antibiotics, infections, and lifestyle. A sound gut programme does not supply as many preparations as possible, but creates the conditions for a diverse intestinal environment.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, or alternating constipation: with irritable bowel syndrome, investigations often reveal no clear organic cause. The symptoms are real nonetheless. Together we examine triggers, eating rhythm, stress responses, and individual tolerance. Without prematurely eliminating ever more foods, because a diet of three ingredients makes nobody happy. Your daily life should become easier, not more complicated.

Every Gut Has Its Own Story
No two guts are alike. This is why every gut restoration programme with me begins with a comprehensive case history. We discuss your symptoms and their progression, medications, previous illnesses, nutrition, stress, sleep, and physical activity. Existing medical findings are incorporated. Where red flags are present, such as blood in the stool, fever, severe pain, or unexplained weight loss, medical investigation comes first. This matters to me. Naturopathy and conventional medicine are not adversaries, they complement one another.
From there, a concept emerges that fits your situation and your daily routine. Depending on your needs, we work with dietary adjustment, phytotherapy, bitter compounds, heat applications, micronutrients, and targeted microorganisms. Not everything at once, but step by step. This allows you to observe what works and what does not. Your body rarely needs perfection, but rather attention, patience, and a comprehensible plan. Good care may be both evidence-informed and human. Ultimately, you should know for yourself what genuinely benefits your gut and what burdens it.
Gut Restoration with a Concept
For me, gut restoration means no blanket cleanse, but a structured rebuilding process in phases. First we reduce burdens and relieve digestion. Then we support the intestinal flora specifically with suitable microorganisms and dietary fibre. Finally we stabilise the outcome through habits you will still maintain in six months. Supplements are introduced only when they genuinely suit you.

Leaky Gut and the Intestinal Mucosa
The intestinal mucosa is your inner boundary. When it becomes more permeable, substances enter the bloodstream that have no business being there. Specialists refer to increased intestinal permeability. Possible consequences: low-grade inflammation, food intolerances, or skin reactions. With targeted nutrition, micronutrients, and phytotherapy, I support the regeneration of your mucosa. This takes time, but the effect is lasting.

Constipation from a Holistic Perspective
Constipation rarely arises from a single cause. Insufficient fluid intake, limited physical activity, dietary habits, medications, or stress may all contribute. What matters is not frequency alone, but how you feel in the process. Together we develop practical steps: a hydration routine, appropriate dietary fibre, movement, and a reliable rhythm. Long-term laxative use is not a solution here.

The Gut-Brain Axis and the Limits of Naturopathy
Gut and brain remain in constant exchange. Via the vagus nerve, via neurotransmitters, and via the immune system. This is why stress affects many people directly in the stomach, while persistent abdominal complaints conversely drain energy and resilience. A substantial proportion of serotonin is produced in the gut. Breathing exercises, warmth, rest periods, quality sleep, and a calm eating environment are therefore not incidental, but part of the therapy.
At the same time, I will tell you honestly where naturopathy reaches its limits. Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis require a medical diagnosis and often specialist treatment. The same applies to unexplained bleeding. A gut restoration programme can provide supportive care and relief here, but it does not replace necessary treatment. Where appropriate, I am glad to collaborate with your physician. Your health takes priority, not the method. Honesty is the foundation of good care, in my view.
Nutrition Without Prohibition Lists
What benefits one gut triggers symptoms in another. This is why I do not work with rigid lists. A structured food diary reveals patterns without turning every meal into a test. The aim is a varied, enjoyable diet that nourishes you while respecting your current resilience. Eating should bring pleasure, not anxiety.

Who Benefits from a Gut Restoration Programme?
A gut programme is worthwhile following antibiotic therapy, with recurring digestive complaints, bloating, intolerances, or frequent infections. It can also achieve a great deal with skin problems, fatigue, and after prolonged illness. It is not suitable for acute emergencies or unexplained symptoms without medical investigation. In a complimentary introductory consultation, we establish whether the timing is right for you.
