Dorn Method
Your spine is the supporting center of your body
When your back aches, your pelvis is tilted, or every step hurts, your body doesn’t need quick fixes, but real attention. Dorn therapy is a gentle, manual method that brings vertebrae and joints back into their natural position. Without jerking, without force. With calmness, intuition, and the power of your own movement. In my naturopathy practice in Zurich, I help you bring your posture back into balance.
What is Dorn Therapy?
Dorn therapy was developed in the 1970s by Dieter Dorn from the Allgäu region. It treats misalignments of the spine and joints with gentle, rhythmic pressure while you are in motion. This makes the difference: your muscles work with the treatment instead of tensing against it. In this way, blockages can be released gently without overtaxing the body.

It all Starts with the Feet
In every second person, the legs are of different lengths, usually due to blocked hip joints. This sounds minor but has a major impact: a tilted pelvis, a twisted spine, and tension throughout the entire body. Therefore, I always check your leg length at the beginning and balance it using specific techniques. The foundation must be correct so that the rest can follow.
Vertebra by Vertebra back into Alignment
Every displaced vertebra not only causes local disruption; it can cause pain to radiate into the arms, legs, or head and even place a strain on internal organs. With targeted thumb pressure, I gently guide each vertebra back while you simultaneously move your arms or legs. This active participation makes the treatment safe, pleasant, and sustainably effective.
More than just Symptom Treatment
Dorn therapy looks deeper. Every vertebra is connected to specific organs and meridians. These are concepts from Traditional Chinese Medicine that show how everything in the body is interconnected. A blocked thoracic vertebra can worsen respiratory problems; a displaced lumbar vertebra can strain digestion. When I treat your spine, it affects not only muscles and bones but your entire system.
This is why I see it time and again: people come in with back pain, and after a few treatments, they report that their sleep has improved, headaches have subsided, or they feel lighter overall. The body is a whole. And when you give it the opportunity to realign itself, it takes it.
Classical Massage as gentle Supplement
I often combine Dorn therapy with Classical Massage. It loosens the muscles, gently stretches the spine, and gives the intervertebral discs room to regenerate. The massage is incredibly relaxing and prepares your body optimally for the subsequent vertebral correction.
Who is Dorn Therapy suitable for?
Dorn therapy helps with back pain, lumbago, sciatica, neck and shoulder tension, headaches and migraines, hip and knee problems, as well as pelvic tilt. It can also provide support for functional organ disorders. It is suitable for people of all ages - from young to old, from active to those with restricted mobility.
Active Participation as the Key to Success
Unlike other manual therapies, you are active during Dorn therapy. While I apply pressure, you move your arms, legs, or head in specific rhythms. This prevents muscle tension and makes the correction safer and more pleasant. After the treatment, I will show you simple self-help exercises for at home, so that you can remain active yourself.
What to Expect after the Treatment
Your body needs time to get used to the new alignment. In the first few days after the treatment, slight muscle soreness may occur, similar to muscle ache after exercise. This is completely normal and shows that your body is working. Sometimes, suppressed issues also return to conscious awareness. The spine stores not only physical but also emotional tension.
Therefore, it is important that you allow yourself rest in the hours following the treatment. Avoid intensive sports, strong stretching, and twisting. Drink plenty of water, maintain an upright posture, and do the self-help exercises at home. Most people feel relief after the very first session. And with each follow-up treatment, the effect becomes deeper and more sustainable.
When is Caution advised?
As gentle as Dorn therapy is, it is not suitable for every situation. It should not be used in cases of acute inflammation, tumors, fresh injuries, osteoporosis, or herniated discs with neurological deficits. If you are unsure, we will discuss this in detail beforehand. Your safety is always the top priority.

Self-help for at Home
An essential part of Dorn therapy is the self-help exercises that you can do daily at home. They are simple, require no equipment, and take only a few minutes. With these exercises, you can align your spine yourself, prevent blockages, and stabilize the treatment results in the long term. I will show you exactly how it’s done.
